Nearly a quarter of the companies that appear on the Inc. Regionals: Midwest ranking of fastest-growing private companies hail from Chicago.

Among the 42 Chicago companies that made the list, AtkCo Inc., a business product and services company, was named the fastest-growing out of Chicago and the third-fastest-growing in the region. The Inc. Regionals award is an extension of the media company's annual Inc. 5000 list.

Founded by CEO Shayna Atkins, AtkCo helps startups, nonprofits and billion-dollar companies to modernize their tech and streamline their operations. The Chicago-based consulting and implementation firm has seen two-year revenue growth of 2,579%.

AtkCo was among five startups that participated in the 1871 and BMO Harris Bank accelerator dedicated to women-founded fintech startups in 2020. The startup changed its model to B2B during the pandemic and now sees an average contract size of more than $300,000.

Of the 10 fastest-growing companies in Chicago, all of which finished in the Top 25 for the region, five were headquartered in the city and five were headquartered in neighboring suburbs.

In order to qualify for this year's list, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2020, and be based in the U.S., with a minimum revenue requirement of $100,000 for 2020 and $1 million for 2022. Companies were ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2020 to 2022.
