Chicago furniture startup Interior Define has added a handful of new leaders to its executive team as it embarks on a retail expansion that will see it add 30 new stores this year.
Interior Define, a made-to-order furniture startup that sells online and at retail stores, added three new executives to its C-suite Thursday. Bahniman Hazarika, who previously worked at Home Depot and Ernst & Young, was named chief financial officer; William Savage, formerly of Pier 1, was appointed chief supply chain officer; and Chris Travers, previously at Bonobos, was named chief business officer and general counsel.
The startup said the new hires now round out its executive team as it plans a major brick-and-mortar expansion in 2022. Interior Define said it plans to add more than 30 new stores this year.
Founded in 2013 and led by CEO Antonio Nieves, Interior Define lets customers purchase made-to-order furniture by customizing everything from size, cushion type, leg style, and fabric and leather upholstery. The company offers design assistants to help customers both online and offline, and its supply chain eliminates middlemen and unnecessary markups, allowing people to purchase high-end pieces at lower prices.
Its primary offerings are sofas, but Interior Define has expanded to new products for the living room, dining room and home office, and it's planning to soon roll out new bedroom products, the company said.
The startup has raised more than $50 million to date. The new retail locations would roughly double its current brick-and-mortar footprint.
