Fresh after raising nearly $40 million in financing, fishing company Catch Co. said it's purchased Recur Outdoors of Boston for an undisclosed price.

Chicago-based Catch Co., which raised $38 million in Series B funding in late April, said it's bought the Boston-based startup that produces a fly-fishing monthly subscription service called Postfly, and that sells Wade fly-fishing rods, Pelican fly-fishing reels, and the Badfish saltwater brand.

Catch Co. was founded in 2012 as a monthly fishing tackle subscription service called Mystery Tackle Box. It also has its its own ecommerce platform called Karl's Bait & Tackle.

Recur was founded in 2013 by Brian Runnals, and its Postfly fly-fishing subscription service has more than 25,000 subscribers.

The purchase of Recur was the first by Catch Co.

"Not only have Brian and his team built an amazing brand in the growing fly-fishing market, but their customer focus and company values are very much aligned with our approach," said Ross Gordon, founder and CEO of Catch Co., in a statement.

In December 2020, Catch Co. raised $6 million.
