Uber wants to make prescription delivery as easy as ordering lunch. And in fact, you can do both through the same app.

Uber announced Thursday that it's launching on-demand prescription delivery in Chicago via its Uber Eats app. The tech giant is partnering with prescription delivery service Nimble, which works with neighborhood pharmacies to fulfill orders.

Uber says all Uber Eats users in the Chicago region will now have access to the service, which will deliver prescriptions to your door in as little as one hour. Users can transfer existing prescriptions or fulfill new ones from local pharmacies right from the Uber Eats app, the company said. Nimble's network of pharmacies coordinates fulfillment, and Uber Eats handles the delivery.

“People are always looking for ways to conveniently and safely get the things they need -- whether that be food, essential supplies, or medicine, and we’re proud that Uber is now playing a role in bringing prescriptions right to customers’ doorsteps," Robert Kellman, head of Midwest Policy for Uber, said in a statement.

Controlled substances are ineligible for delivery, Uber said, as well as prescriptions that are paid for through Medicare, Medicade or TRICARE.

Uber is bringing the service to Chicago after previously launching prescription delivery in Dallas, Austin, Houston, New York City, Miami, Los Angeles and Orange County. It's also launching the service in Atlanta on Thursday.
