ThoughtWorks, a Chicago-based software consultancy giant, has acquired another startup—its second company purchase of 2021.

The company announced Monday that it has acquired Fourkind, a Finland-based machine learning and data science consulting company, for an undisclosed price.

Founded in 2017, Fourkind has a team of 40 data scientists and engineers that are all joining ThoughtWorks. Fourkind’s team will continue to operate from their offices in Helsinski, Finland, and Amsterdam, the companies said.

Founded in 1993 by Neville Roy Singham, ThoughtWorks provides software design and tech consulting services to clients like Delta, Porsche and Sonic. The company has grown from a small founding team to more than 7,000 workers around the globe in 46 offices across 15 countries. Besides the U.S., ThoughtWorks has offices in Australia, Canada and India.

"We have been on the hunt for a company that will help us accelerate growth in our key strategic focus areas of data, digital transformation, enterprise modernization and customer experience,” said ThoughtWorks President and CEO Guo Xiao, who took the top seat in 2013.

With Fourkind, ThoughtWorks will be able to expand its European footprint and improve ThoughtWorks’ existing services in Finland, the Netherlands and the Nordics.

Last month, ThoughtWorks agreed to acquire Gemini Solutions, a Silicon Valley software development and consulting services firm. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed. And shortly after, ThoughtWorks announced it raised $720 million from investors and is now valued at $4.6 billion.
