In a new ranking of the fastest-growing private technology companies in North America, nine Chicago-area businesses cracked the list.

Deloitte published its annual Fast 500 ranking, which lists technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and energy technology companies based on percentage of revenue growth over the last three years. Award winners were selected based on fiscal year revenue growth from 2016 to 2020.

Chicago startup Cubii was the local company with the fastest growth, posting 1,506% revenue growth and coming in at No. 77 on the Fast 500 list. Cubii, which launched in 2014 with a Kickstarter campaign that raised $293,712 from 1,070 backers, manufactures and sells compact seated ellipticals and related accessories. Cubii has raised just $1.3 million, and in October, the owners sold a controlling stake of the company to Gridiron Capital LLC in a deal worth about $100 million.

Following Cubii on the Fast 500 was logistics company ShipBob (#116), which posted growth of 1,030%, and online lending company OppLoans (#138), which posted growth of 860%.

Other notable tech companies on the 2020 Deloitte Fast 500 include Simplify Healthcare (#164), Built In (#244) and Braviant Holdings (#377).
