VillageMD said it's going to expand in Georgia by opening more than 10 Village Medical clinics in the Atlanta region.
The Chicago healthcare startup said its first clinic opening will be at 1805 Parke Plaza Circle, Suite 101 in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
"Amid our national pandemic, we know primary care providers including physicians and nurses should be at the core of the patient experience through building relationships and understanding their healthcare," said Dr. Brent Asplin, president of Village Medical, in a statement.
VillageMD currently operates 24 Village Medical clinics in Houston (with some still to open); seven locations in Phoenix; and now the new Georgia locations.
The Georgia expansion follows a July announcement from Walgreens Boots Alliance (Nasdaq: WBA) that the Deerfield pharmacy giant was investing $1 billion in VillageMD over the next three years, including $250 million invested in July. VillageMD will use 80% of the investment to build up to 700 full-service doctor offices at Walgreens locations in more than 30 U.S. markets. Walgreens now owns about 30% of VillageMD.
