After raising $100 million in January, Chicago marketing tech firm ActiveCampaign expects to nearly double its number of employees by the end of next year.
The company announced that it expects to grow to more than 1,000 employees in 2021, up from its current headcount of 650. ActiveCampaign is among the Chicago tech companies that have grown steadily in 2020 despite the coronavirus pandemic. The firm says it currently has over 120,000 active customers on its platform, and in May it crossed $100 million annual recurring revenue.
“I’m equally proud and humbled by the growth and resilience of my team this year,” ActiveCampaign CEO and founder Jason VandeBoom said in a statement. “This has been a year of tremendous challenge for everyone, and the ActiveCampaign team and community have risen to the challenge as demonstrated by our growth."
Founded in 2003, ActiveCampaign has built a marketing platform that lets companies send and design email newsletters, automate marketing channels and better engage with customers. ActiveCampaign, which started as a customer experience business and relaunched as a SaaS platform in 2016, today has customers in 170 countries.
ActiveCampaign raised its first outside funding in 2016 in a $20 million round. Its investors include Susquehanna Growth Equity and Silversmith Capital Partners.
Outside of its Chicago headquarters, the company has offices in Indianapolis, Dublin, Brazil and Sydney.
