Chicago-based Investment research company YCharts has been purchased by LLR Partners, a Philadelphia private equity firm, for an undisclosed price.

YCharts employs about 65 people in Chicago and provides investment analytics for about 6,000 clients, including registered investment advisers, broker dealers and asset managers. Last year, it was one of 12 Chicago companies that were ranked on a list of the fastest-growing private technology companies in North America.

“LLR Partners brings to YCharts deep experience within wealth management technology, a collaborative approach, and a strategic vision that aligns with our long-term objectives. ... As we enter the next stage of YCharts’ journey, our team is excited to partner with LLR who will support our continued growth and help us drive success for RIAs, broker-dealers, and asset managers," said Sean Brown, YCharts CEO, in a statement.

YCharts was founded in 2010. Previous investors in the company included Hyde Park Angels, I2a, REV Venture Partners (backed by RELX) and Morningstar.

A company spokesperson said in an email that expansion in Chicago is coming and that "in the next three to five years, we intend to be three times our size, which would lead to more roles in Chicago."
