UberEats is launching a new contactless ordering feature in Chicago that allows diners to quickly pay their bill from their phone at a restaurant.

UberEats announced Monday that users can now pay their tab at select restaurants through the UberEats app in Chicago and seven other markets. While at a restaurant, UberEats allows users to order their food within the app and pay for their meal by scanning a QR code.

The company also launched a new pick-up payment feature that allows users to find a restaurant in their UberEats app, and order and pay for their meal. The new pick-up feature is being rolled out across the country.

The new payment options are designed to increase safety between guests and restaurant workers by cutting down on things like handling credit cards, cash and pens at checkout.

The in-restaurant feature comes amid a busy summer for Uber's delivery business as many users opt to order in rather than venture out to restaurants. In July, Uber acquired Postmates in a $2.65 billion deal. The acquisition came just weeks after Uber failed to buy Chicago-based Grubhub amid antitrust concerns.

The dine-in feature is also available in Indianapolis, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Vermont, Atlanta and New York City. The company said it plans to continue rolling the feature out nationally.
