Chicago parking startup Arrive has a new feature that makes paying for parking even easier, and it was featured Monday during Apple's annual developer's conference.

Arrive, which operates consumer parking app ParkWhiz, announced Monday that it launched a new drive-up payment option that simplifies the payment experience for drivers. Its new feature, called "Tap to Pay Parking," allows anyone with an Apple Pay or Google Pay-enabled smartphone to tap a sign, authorize payment and park without touching any tickets, buttons or payment machines.

The new feature recently launched in Las Vegas and is expanding to more cities, Arrive said.

Arrive is also partnering with Apple on a new feature that will eventually make Tap to Pay Parking even simpler. Arrive is working with Apple to leverage the tech giant's new App Clips feature, which are fast, card-based snippets of apps that allow users to access features without downloading an entire app. App Clips are launching later this year in Apple's iOS 14.

Arrive was featured during Apple's WWDC 2020 event Monday, which you can see below.

"This technology will make Tap to Pay Parking even better, as customers will get the benefit of a beautiful, native iPhone experience without needing our ParkWhiz or Best Parking app," Matt Perille, head of growth at Arrive, said in a blog post.

Formerly known as ParkWhiz, Arrive launched in 2006 and is one of two larger parking app firms in Chicago, along with SpotHero. Arrive has raised more than $60 million in funding to date from backers like Amazon’s Alexa Fund, NewSpring and Jump Capital.
