Chicago-based password management company Keeper Security hit a major milestone Tuesday: one million paying customers.
Keeper, a maker of password management software for people and businesses, announced that more than a million active customers now pay to use its technology to keep their passwords safe. The company said that the increased adoption of remote work has only increased the need for Keeper Security's products, especially for businesses.
"Our customers trust in our ability to deliver products that fulfill their needs---they rely on Keeper to protect them on all their devices," Keeper CEO Darren Guccione said in a statement. "We are extremely grateful for their trust and loyalty, and are honored by this milestone."

Founded in 2011, Keeper says it has customers in more than 100 countries, who use Keeper for password security and other cybersecurity features, such as dark web monitoring, secure file storage, encrypted messaging, single-sign on integration and security event reporting.
The company says it has grown to nearly 160 total employees, 70 of which are based in Chicago. To accommodate growth, last fall the company moved into a 16,000-square-foot office at 820 W. Jackson Blvd. in the West Loop.
