Five companies were selected as finalists in the Chicago Bulls' first-ever startup competition, with one winner set to be announced during a game at the United Center next month.
Five startups were whittled down Thursday night from 20 semifinalists in the Chicago Bulls Venture Competition, a startup competition in partnership with Columbus-based VC firm LOUD Capital. The 20 companies, which were announced earlier this month, showcased at 1871 and the five finalists were chosen by a group of judges.
The five companies are:
Gather Voices, a video production software that automates the creation, management and publishing of digital videos.
Honest Game, a tool that helps high school athletes navigate the college eligibility process.
Split Gym, a peer-to-peer marketplace to buy and sell unused memberships at fitness studios and gyms.
Spotivity, a startup focused on connecting 13-17 year olds with after school activities.
StreamLayer, a company that's rethinking live video with an interactive video platform that offers messaging and social media within the video experience.
All five startups will pitch their companies at the United Center on March 9, and one company will be named the winner during halftime of the Bulls game on March 10. The winner will receive a $50,000 equity investment from LOUD Capital, along with additional legal, promotional and business development services.
Loud Capital launched in 2015 and opened a Chicago office in 2018. Its Chicago investments include Xaptum and Breakwater Chicago.
