Evive, a Chicago SaaS company that makes a platform for connecting people with benefits, has acquired a Boston healthtech company.

Evive announced Thursday that it purchased WiserTogether for an undisclosed amount. Founded in 2008, WiserTogether makes a tool that helps people find the right health treatment quickly, cheaply and reliably.

WiserTogether, founded in 2008, says it serves more than 3 million people through their employers and health plans. It has raised nearly $22 million since launching, according to Crunchbase.

The acquisition allows Evive to improve its engagement benefits platform by helping users connect with healthcare resources based on their symptoms, pre-existing conditions and past medical claims. Through the software, users can view patient and physician ratings, estimated costs and how particular treatment options may work for them.

"The treatment-guidance functionality of WiserTogether accelerates Evive's mission to connect people with benefits that will help them live healthier lives," said Evive’s Vice President of Product Management Zach Debelak in a statement. "This is empowering Evive to be the first source for treatment guidance that employees can turn to when they have health concerns."

Evive, founded in 2007 by Peter Saravis and Prashant Srivastava, says its platform is used by more than 4 million people. In 2018, Evive raised $43 million in funding from Susquehanna Growth Equity, a Bala Cynwyd, Penn.-based venture capital firm. The round was the first and only outside capital that Evive has received.

Cathryn Sloane, Evive’s content marketing manager, said the company employs more than 300 people globally. It is unclear how many people WiserTogether employed before the acquisition, but Sloane said three WiserTogether employees have joined Evive by either relocating to Chicago or working remotely.
