Cameo has made LinkedIn's list of the most sought-after U.S. startups to work for as the Chicago company continues to raise its profile nationally.
LinkedIn announced its annual Top Startups list Wednesday, a ranking of the 50 hottest companies where Americans want to work the most. Cameo came in at No. 32, ahead of companies like Allbirds (40) and Convoy (44), and behind brands such as DoorDash (4) and Bumble (30). Software startup Snowflake came in at No. 1.
LinkedIn's Top Startups list was determined based on a number of factors, including employee growth and jobseeker interest. Companies had to be private, 7 years old or younger, and have at least 50 employees.
Cameo's presence is also notable for the fact that it's among only a handful of non-coastal startups on LinkedIn's rankings. Just seven companies don't have California or New York addresses, with Cameo and Austin-based Bumble among the only two startups based in middle America.
In 2017, three Chicago startups cracked LinkedIn's Top Startups list: G2 Crowd, Uptake and Sprout Social.
Cameo, founded in 2017, is an app that lets you buy video shoutout messages from celebrities. It raised $50 million earlier this summer in a round led by Kleiner Perkins.
Cameo was also on Time’s list of most “genius” companies, and it was one of Chicago Inno’s 19 Startups to Watch in 2019.
