Uber is testing a new feature in Chicago that gives users a range of different services at one monthly price.
Uber is piloting a subscription service that combines Uber rides, electric bikes, scooters and Uber Eats, according to Tech Crunch. Uber is testing the service in Chicago and San Francisco.
For $25 a month, riders get free Uber Eats delivery, free JUMP bike and scooter rides, and a fixed discount on Uber rides, Tech Crunch reports. It's also testing similar, cheaper passes in other markets that offer free Uber Eats delivery and discounted rides.
As consumers have many options when choosing things like electric scooters (there are 10 e-scooter companies in Chicago) or food delivery, Uber sees a subscription service as a way to entice customers who regularly use its multiple offerings.
The news comes as Uber has plans to double down on its Chicago presence, hiring hundreds of new employees for its Uber Freight team, which is based in Chicago. Uber is reportedly eyeing a massive 450,000 sq. ft. lease at the Old Main Post Office.
Uber has more than 1,000 Chicago employees, making Chicago its second-largest office outside of San Francisco.
