A New York startup that delivers a couch to your door in a box is opening a Chicago retail shop in Fulton Market.

Burrow, a sofa startup founded in 2016, announced it has opened a Chicago shop at 160 N. Morgan St. The 3,800-square-foot showroom features Burrow's various couches, throw pillows and other products, and it also serves as an event space at night.

The Chicago shop is its first outside of New York City, and Burrow says it's growing faster in Chicago than in any market in the U.S.

Burrow makes modular, high-end sofas that ship in boxes and can be assembled in 10 minutes. Similar to Casper, Leesa and other mattress delivery startups that arrive in a box, Burrow is designed for city dwellers who'd prefer to not lug heavy furniture up a 4th floor walkup, or anyone else who'd prefer to save a trip to the furniture store.

Its products range from $595 for an armchair to more than $2,000 for a large sofa.

Burrow has raised almost $20 million in venture funding, and it counts NEA, Y Combinator and Robin Hood Ventures among its backers. The company launched its first New York store last August.

Burrow is among a wave of digital-first brands that have launched physical stores in Chicago. San Francisco-based shoe startup Allbirds opened a Chicago shop in March on Armitage Ave. in Lincoln Park, which has become a hot street for so called "clicks to bricks" stores. Other companies with shops on Armitage include Bonobos, Warby Parker, Tie Bar and Interior Define.
