Car-buying company Carvana wants to make purchasing a vehicle in Chicago as easy as buying a bag of chips.

Carvana announced Wednesday that it has opened a car vending machine just outside of Chicago. Located at 720 Enterprise Dr. in Oak Brook, the eight-story glass tower functions as a literal coin-operated vending machine for customers who buy a car on Carvana's website. Customers are given an oversized Carvana coin that they insert into a machine in order to retrieve their car.

It's gimmicky for sure, but Carvana's whole premise is to disrupt the car-buying process with a simpler online experience. Users can browse vehicles on Carvana's site, purchase a car, and get it delivered in as soon as the next day---if you'd rather skip the vending machine. Buyers have seven days to test drive the vehicle and return it if they aren't satisfied. Carvana will also purchase your old vehicle and provide financing options.

Carvana first launched in Chicago in 2017, but today marks the first time Chicago buyers can access its vending machine. Carvana has car vending machines in 17 cities across the U.S.

Founded in Phoenix in 2012, Carvana raised nearly $1 billion in debt and equity before going public in 2017.

“We launched in the Chicagoland area less than two years ago,” Ernie Garcia, founder and CEO of Carvana, said in a statement. “We’re proud to see customers enjoy our new way to buy a car and looking forward to making car buying even more fun and exciting with our newest Car Vending Machine."

Carvana also announced Wednesday that it is bringing its next-day vehicle delivery to Rockford, Ill., Ann Arbor, Mich., and Kalamazoo, Mich.
