Tech giant Amazon announced a new partnership with an Oak Brook, Ill.- based garage company that will allow Amazon Prime members to receive in-garage delivery.

Chamberlain Group is providing its myQ-connected garage door opening technology to Key by Amazon, a service that allows select Prime members to receive deliveries in their home, car, and now garage. The new garage service, dubbed Key for Garage, will be available in the second quarter of this year to Prime members across 37 cities, including Chicago, Miami and Atlanta.

To use the tech, Prime members can connect their existing myQ-connected technology to their Amazon accounts in the Key app. Otherwise, they can purchase one of two Key for Garage Kits, one that that includes Chamberlain’s tech and adds connectivity to their existing garage door opener, or a kit with a new myQ-connected Chamberlain or LiftMaster Wi-Fi garage door opener. When they purchase something on Amazon, they will have the option to select in-garage delivery.

On delivery day, customers will receive notifications from the Key app during every step of the delivery process. They will know when the package is en-route, when their garage door opens for the driver to deliver the package and then when it closes.

“A self-contained extension of the home, the garage offers a convenient destination for packages that solves current delivery hurdles such as potential theft and missed deliveries,” said Jeff Meredith, Chamberlain’s president and chief operating officer, in a statement. “We are proud to collaborate with Amazon on this game-changing in-garage delivery initiative.”

In addition to the delivery service, any person with a myQ-connected garage door opener will be able to monitor and control their garage door from anywhere via Amazon’s Key app.

“We are excited to add Key for Garage as an option for remote monitoring, access and Prime deliveries,” said Rohit Shrivastava, the general manager of Key by Amazon, in a statement. “Launching with Chamberlain Group, the leader in the space, ensures that our customers will have the best possible experience whether they are checking to see if the kids reached home safely, making sure the that the garage door is closed while at work or on the road, or choosing the most convenient and secure way to have their Prime packages delivered at home.”
