WeWork is bringing another co-working location to Chicago as it continues to quickly grow across the city and throughout the U.S.

WeWork announced Tuesday that it's opening a new space at 222 S. Riverside Plaza next to Union Station in the West Loop. The latest office is WeWork's ninth Chicago location and comes on the heels of recent openings at 515 N. State St. and 330 N. Wabash Ave.

WeWork's newest Chicago location will occupy 60,000 sq. ft. on the 15th and 16th floors at 222 S. Riverside, with room for more than 1,100 desks.

“We’re thrilled to announce WeWork 222 S Riverside as our ninth Chicago location,” Megan Dodds, WeWork's Midwest General Manager, said in a statement. “Located just blocks away from Ogilvie Transportation Center, Union Station and access to I-90 and I-94, WeWork 222 S Riverside will give WeWork members beautifully designed workspace, great amenities, and ample transportation options.”

WeWork will now occupy roughly 650,000 square feet of space in Chicago, the company said.

In the U.S., only New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Seattle and the Bay Area have more WeWork locations than Chicago. Boston also has nine locations. Globally, WeWork has 335 physical locations in 24 countries.

WeWork, valued at $45 billion, is among the leaders in the booming shared office market. Experts predict the U.S. will have more than 6,200 co-working spaces by 2022, which would be more than double the amount from 2015.

WeWork's newest space expects to open in mid-2019.
