Y Combinator's top portfolio companies make up a who's who of tech's elite startups---from Airbnb to Instacart to Reddit to Twitch.

The Silicon Valley accelerator has been a launching pad for many billion dollar+ tech companies. In fact, 19 of its startups have reached the $1 billion valuation point, and it has helped more than 90 companies grow to valuations of $100 million or more.

To give a snapshot of its most successful companies, Y Combinator recently published a list of the top 100 YC companies by valuation. And a Chicago startup cracked the top 60.

ShipBob, an e-commerce logistics startup that helps smaller businesses ship their wares with Amazon-like speeds, ranked No. 56 on Y Combinator's list. The startup raised $40 million in September, bringing its total amount of VC funding to $62 million since it launched in 2014. Other than YC, its backers include Menlo Ventures, Bain Capital Ventures, Hyde Park Venture Partners and Hyde Park Angels. ShipBob's exact valuation is unknown.

ShipBob ranked higher than some tech startups you're probably familiar with, like food delivery service Caviar (82), music annotation site Genius (92) and sports media site The Athletic (99).

In the last year, ShipBob has grown from 60 employees to over 400. The company says it’s growing the business 300 percent year-over-year, reaching eight figures in revenue in 2017.

ShipBob isn't the only Chicago startup that's gone through the prestigious Silicon Valley accelerator. Other Y Combinator-backed startups in Chicago include Tovala, Popular Pays and mRelief.
