CareerBuilder's new app makes finding job openings as easy as walking down the street and holding up your phone.
Chicago-based CareerBuilder announced Tuesday that it has launched a new augmented reality app that shows job listings at businesses as you walk by. Users just point their phone at nearby offices and they're shown available positions at the company.
As more and more job seekers look for work from their mobile device---CareerBuilder says 70% of its audience uses phones to search for jobs---the company wanted to bring additional mobile-friendly tools to its user base.
“CareerBuilder is tapping into this trend of digital nomadism and delivering a mobile offering for the employment space that is different than anything else on the market today,” Humair Ghauri, chief product officer for CareerBuilder, said in a statement. “We are leveraging nearly 25 years of candidate conversion to help employers and talent connect anytime, anywhere with a deeper mobile experience."
CareerBuilder also announced several other features of its new app, including the ability for job seekers to instantly build a resume and recommend skills needed for a better-paying job. For employers, CareerBuilder automatically identifies candidates who are qualified and likely to respond to an opening, and runs campaigns to encourage them to apply.
CareerBuilder's new mobile app recently launched on iOS and plans to launch soon on Android.
