Chicago-based tech company Solstice announced Wednesday that it is expanding its West Loop office space to help accommodate its growing staff.
The tech company's offices in the Gogo building, at 111 N. Canal St., will double in size to 60,000 square-feet, allowing Solstice to occupy the building’s entire seventh floor.
Solstice says the expansion of its office was sparked by the company’s personnel growth. In 2017, the company says it hired more than 150 new employees and is on track to exceed that figure this year.
“This is an incredible milestone in the 20-year history of Solstice,” said the company's CEO Kelly Manthey in a statement. “We are on a mission to prove what humanity is capable of, and that starts by ensuring our employees have the most innovative workspace possible.”
Solstice, which was founded in 2001, is a digital innovation consulting firm that helps companies craft digital strategies, and build hardware and software. Solstice, which also has offices in New York and Argentina, was acquired by St. Ives for $36 million in 2015.
Solstice's new office space features a live-feed data-driven hologram screen in the lobby and various flexible co-working spaces to encourage collaboration among employees.
“Chicago is home to one of the strongest, fastest-growing and most innovative tech hubs anywhere in the world,” said Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who joined Solstice at its offices on Wednesday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. “I commend Solstice for doubling down on its investment in Chicago and putting down even stronger roots in our great city.”
