Chicago-based meal-delivery app Eat Purely has moved into a new office in the West Loop as it gears up for a Midwest expansion and looks for efficient ways to support its mission to deliver high-quality, healthy meals to hungry users.
The startup, founded in 2015 by Jeremiah Green, CEO, and Dan Wetherald, CTO, aims to deliver meals in 20 minutes or less. Users can order meals off seasonal menus curated by the startup, which arrive prepared and chilled, so they stay fresh and are conducive to being reheated.
Eat Purely's new office, located at 1709 W. Washington St., will provide the startup new, updated kitchen technology that will allow it to produce more than 10,000 meals a day for cheaper than it currently is, the company said. The new space offers a tech system that automates the ingredient ordering process, and streamlines the company’s operations, culinary preparation and workflow.
“The new kitchen is a pivotal step in the geographic expansion of Eat Purely,” Green said in a statement. “Our focus in 2018 will be on growing our footprint throughout Chicagoland and the Midwest, and our new space, with its cutting edge technology, is essential to achieving that goal. This investment will enable us to lower overhead costs and to scale at a regional and national level.”
To help create excitement around the app and attract new users, Eat Purely also announced that it is launching a chef partnership series in which notable, local chefs will create meals exclusively sold on the app. The first chef to debut on the app is Kevin Hickey, the owner and chef at The Duck Inn in the city's Pilsen neighborhood. He will develop 15 meals, which cost about $10-16 each.
Eat Purely has about 50 employees and has raised $2.4 million, according to Crunchbase.
