Former Amazon and ClassPass executive Sam Hall has joined Grubhub as its chief product officer, the Chicago-based food delivery company announced Wednesday.
Hall, who be responsible for expanding and growing Grubhub’s product offerings, will be based out of the company's New York office.
“I’m thrilled to join Grubhub and help further the company’s mission to better connect people to local restaurants,” Hall said in a statement. “I look forward to addressing the unique technical challenges that come from Grubhub’s multi-sided marketplace and to developing product offerings that delight our diners, restaurants and drivers.”
Prior to Grubhub, Hall was the chief product and technology officer at ClassPass, a New York-based tech company that makes a fitness class booking platform. Before ClassPass, he worked for nearly 10 years at Amazon as its vice president of consumable customer experience, where he oversaw worldwide product management, design, data analytics and engineering for the company’s products and programs. He also was Amazon’s vice president of mobile for a time, in which he was responsible for managing the company’s mobile shopping apps.
“[Hall’s] strong background and exceptional work leading product strategy for some of the nation’s top tech companies will be an asset at Grubhub, as we expand our product vision and continue scaling our platforms for the future,” said Grubhub’s CEO Matt Maloney in a statement.
Since launching in 2004, Grubhub has continued to dominate the food delivery space. They have acquired competitors, such as Seamless, Eat24, AllMenus and MenuPages, and now offer their services in more than 80,000 restaurants in over 1,600 U.S. cities and London.
