Chicago-based NuCurrent, which develops antennas for wireless technology like phone chargers, has appointed Tim Tumilty its new vice president of sales and marketing, the company announced Wednesday.
Tumilty, who has 25 years of experience in semiconductor and electronic industries, will be responsible for leading NuCurrent’s commercialization efforts, which includes ramping up sales of their product. According to his LinkedIn profile, Tumilty has been working in the role since October.
Tumilty will work to grow NuCurrent's existing customer relationships while also finding new ones in the consumer and industrial product manufacturer space, said NuCurrent Spokesperson Ryan Greives in an emailed statement to Chicago Inno.
“[Tumilty] brings a unique skillset to the company, having successfully led commercialization and R&D initiatives at large semiconductor companies and successful venture-backed companies alike,” said NuCurrent’s CEO Jacob Babcock in a statement. “Tim’s leadership abilities and track record of success will be instrumental in growing the NuCurrent brand within the wireless power industry.”
Before NuCurrent, Tumilty was the vice president of sales and services at Comtek International, and prior to that, was the director of networking software and services group at NXP in Austin, Texas.
“The demand for NuCurrent's core technology and system design capabilities is unlike anything I've seen before,” Tumilty said in a statement. “I'm excited to help connect customers to the right wireless power solutions and be a part of NuCurrent's next phase of expansive growth."
Since launching NuCurrent in 2009, Founder Jacob Babcock has raised about $10 million for the company. In a statement, the company said it is still hiring for positions across departments. NuCurrent has a record of hiring former employees of major tech giants, like Motorola and Intel.
In 2015, NuCurrent hired former Motorola Mobility engineer Glenn Riese to serve as the company’s director of product engineering.
