On Sunday, October 8, some 40,000 runners---and 1.7 million onlookers---will hit the streets of Chicago for the 2017 Chicago Marathon.
Runners will weave through 29 Chicago neighborhoods on the 26.2 mile race, which starts with runners waves beginning at 7:20 a.m. through 8:35 a.m.
To keep track of all the runners on race day, the Chicago Marathon gives interested family and friends the ability to follow their favorite athletes via the Bank of America Chicago Marathon app and the marathon's website.
Tracking With the App
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, lets people track runners in real time and see predicted splits for up to 20 runners, plus get live weather updates, view an interactive course map, and watch a live NBC broadcast feed of the race.
Users can use the Tracking & Results section of the App and search for runners.
Chicago Marathon Website
Those who don't want to download the app can track runners live via the Chicago Marathon website. Onlookers can view the race leaderboard with real-time updates and runner splits every 5K. Users can search runners by name and bib number.
Other Ways to Stay on Top of the Race
Both NBC and Telemundo will be broadcasting the race live from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. WSCR-AM 670 will also air the race live.
People can see the runners cross the finish line in person at Michigan Avenue and Roosevelt Road.
