ThoughtWorks, a nearly 25-year-old Chicago software company, is getting acquired by a private equity firm.
Apax Partners, a London-based PE firm, announced the deal Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
ThoughtWorks provides software design and tech consulting services to clients like Target, Dominos, Delta and Nokia. The company launched in Chicago back in 1993, and has grown into a 4,500-person business with 42 offices in 15 countries.
"Over the years, ThoughtWorks has gone through many iterations but what has been consistent is our commitment to software excellence. We credit this to having a combination of the most talented, passionate development teams, collaborative practices, and a culture of experimentation and innovation which blend to create a technology capability that is second to none," Rebecca Parsons, ThoughtWorks' chief technology officer, said in a statement. "Together with Apax Partners, we remain committed to having technology at the core of everything we do while building a diverse, inclusive work environment."
ThoughtWorks is a company known for its commitment to diversity. It was named the top company for women in tech at last year's Grace Hopper Conference. Among 60 tech companies surveyed for the Top Companies award by the Anita Borg Institute, the nonprofit behind the Grace Hopper Conference, ThoughtWorks had the most female representation in tech roles.
At ThoughtWorks, 59 percent of entry-level tech jobs are held by women.
The deal is expected to close in Q4 2017.
