Midwest Report: All of the Region’s Major Tech Fundings, M&As, and IPOs in July

While we’re primarily focused on Chicago’s innovation economy, we also have our eyes on all of the startup and tech activity happening throughout the entire Midwest. Here are the major tech fundings, acquisitions, mergers, moves and IPOs that went down in the region in July. See all Midwest Reports here

7/5: Ann Arbor-based Swift Biosciences, a provider of library prep solutions for genomic sequencing, raised a $12.2 million Series D funding from Arboretum Ventures and existing investors.

7/6: Indianapolis-based Archway Technology Partners, a provider of operating technologies and services for the family office industry, was acquired by investment management company SEI. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

7/7: Minneapolis-based venture capital firm Coral Group teamed up with AT&T to launch a venture fund that will invest in startups focused on platform technologies and connected services. According to reports, AT&T will invest up to $200 million for the debut fund.

7/8: Cincinnati-based telecom company Cincinnati Bell has agreed to merge with Hawaiian Telcom for a total of approximately $650 million. In addition to the merger, Cincinnati Bell has also agreed to to acquire Canada-based OnX Enterprise Solutions, a tech services and solutions provider, for just over $200 million.

7/10: Schaumberg-based Convergint Technologies acquired SigNet Technologies, a Beltsville, Md.-based security systems integrator. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

7/10: According to an SEC filing, Minneapolis-based Loup Ventures, an early-stage VC firm focused on AI and VR, is raising $20 million for its debut fund.

7/11: St. Louis-based NewLeaf Symbiotics, a science-based company doing cutting-edge research and product development in agriculture and biotech, raised a $24 million Series C from Monsanto Growth Ventures and Otter Capital, with participation from Lewis & Clark Ventures, Rockport Capital, Pangaea Ventures and Open Prairie Ventures.

7/11: Schaumburg, Illinois-based CellTrak Technologies, a startup that connects agencies, care providers and payers with home care software for a comprehensive mobile care delivery management solution, raised over $11 million in funding from Boathouse Capital and MK Capital.

7/12: Cincinnati-based Astronomer, a collaborative data platform developer, raised $3.5 million in funding from Wireframe Ventures, with participation from M25 Group, Frontline Ventures, Grand Ventures, Drummond Road, Core Network and Silicon Valley Bank.

7/20: Minneapolis-based Gravie, a provider of a reinvented health benefits marketplace, raised a $14.1 million Series C from GE Ventures, with participation from FirstMark Capital, Aberdare Ventures and Split Rock Partners.

7/25: Cincinnati-based ActionStreamer, a wireless wearable live-streaming platform, raised $1.88 million in seed funding from CincyTech, with participation from Street Ventures.

7/26: Naperville-based PhysIQ, a provider of proprietary predictive analytics for human physiology, raised an $8 million Series B from 4490 Ventures, with participation from Quark Venture and LionBird.

7/29: Omaha-based MultiMechanics, a developer of virtual testing software, raised $1.9 million in funding from Solvay Ventures, Anzu Partners and Invest Nebraska.
