Office Envy: This Web Development Startup Works Out of the Board of Trade Building

StickOutSocial, a four-year-old Chicago startup dedicated "exclusively" to web design and development, creates wireframes, branding guidelines and custom WordPress solutions for clients ranging from startups to big businesses. The startup has 17 employees, up from an original seven-person team, with tentative plans to hire more.

It's also one of the few startups housed in the historic Chicago Board of Trade building, occupying 3,688 square feet on the 15th floor of the building. Being located at the Board of Trade offers access not just to all the financial companies in the building, but also a beautiful rooftop deck in the shadow of the Willis Tower on one side and the east end of the Loop on the other.

The office space itself is "professional yet quirky," according to Kathleen Reilly, Head of Business Development at StickOutSocial. The floor plan and desk layout is open and flexible, hence suitable for the collaborative web development process, and the office also offers a few conference rooms for meetings and potential future growth.

"Employees are given the opportunity to personalize their space, hoping this will increase productivity -- and we now have everything from self-painted works of art to small exotic plants, to cat figurines holding wine cups," said Reilly in an interview with Chicago Inno.

Take a look inside StickOutSocial's offices which definitely give off a startup vibe within the legacy and history of the Board of Trade building.
