Standing desks have been proven to be better for posture, productivity and reduce risk for heart disease and obesity.

But what if your company doesn't want to shell out for adjustable standing desks, which can cost between $300 and $2,000? Or perhaps you're constantly on the go, or like to switch up your work space throughout the day?

A Chicago startup has created the portable standing desk for you.

It's called DeskView. It's a wall-mounted, portable standing desk that can adhere to any non-porous vertical surface through its vacuum sealed technology. It weighs six pounds, is roughly 2-feet-by-1-foot, and can hold up to 120 pounds. Founders Michael Bolos and Jason Grohowski just launched DeskView on Kickstarter, and they're aiming to raise $25,000 to bring the project to life.

Bolos, who works in law, and Grohowski, who works in commercial real estate, first thought of the idea as they sought to find the best standing desk to work with their corporate work lives.

"My desk, like most, is permanently affixed to the wall," Bolos told Chicago Inno over email. "There was no option to put a standing desk add-on, because there were cabinets directly above the desk, plus they were over $400 for a good model. That's when we realized the window goes completely unused in most offices."

They tinkered around with a prototype in 2015, and after getting positive feedback on their first model, they teamed up with product development firm MNML to release the model they're pitching on Kickstarter.

The DeskView comes in three different colors (wood, white and clear), and comes fully assembled. Eventually the DeskView will cost $200, but they're offering early backers discounted prices starting at $99.

While it currently only works for non-porous surfaces (such as polished marble, metal or glass), if this crowdfunding campaign is successful, they're working on a "Universal Wall Mount" will allow users to use DeskView on drywall and other similar surfaces, as well as flip the desk plate to create a dry erase board.
