Outcome Health Lands Another Big Hire: Early Facebook Exec Blake Chandlee

Chicago's Outcome Health has been loading up with impressive hires, this time with an early Facebook executive.

Outcome Health (formerly ContextMedia) announced Wednesday that it has hired Blake Chandlee as EVP of industry solutions and emerging businesses. He'll be tasked with leading the company's efforts across "emerging commercial opportunities" in areas such as clinical trials, payers and pharmacies, the company said. Chandlee will also lead Outcome Health's international expansion, something he knows a thing or two about from his last gig.

Chandlee comes to Outcome Health from Facebook, where he joined the social networking giant in 2007 to lead the startup's growth overseas. He was Facebook's first UK employee, and spent four years growing Facebook's international business out of the London office before returning to the US to lead Facebook's global agency businesses and global accounts team.

Chandlee joined Facebook as it was just three years old, and with only a couple hundred total employees. In a blog post announcing the new job, Chandlee recalled a conversation with CEO Mark Zuckerberg where the two "talked about a platform that would enable people to have an authentic identity; how the edges and nodes of what would become known as the social graph would allow us to connect the world, which would then allow us to have profound impact at a global scale."

He continued in the post:

"I remembered those initial conversations that I had with Mark in 2007, and found myself wondering if there was another founder who wanted to tackle social challenges at a similar scale. "I don't mean the Silicon Valley, shiny object challenges, but the real, difficult challenges that impact all of us and urgently need to be solved.

"Then, I met Rishi Shah and Shradha Agarwal, two amazing founders who were building a business as powerful as anything I’d ever come across. There was a real magic to their partnership as well, and they were building a network and platform at the moment of care, when a physician and patient discussed health conditions, decisions and treatments. Outcome Health delivers technology solutions to transform these discussions and the outcomes that result using the same data-driven approach that Silicon Valley has been using for years."

Outcome Health launched in 2006 and makes interactive tablets and wall boards that are used in doctor's offices and waiting rooms to help patients better engage with their healthcare providers. In recent months the company has hired Vivek Kundra, the former chief information officer of the United States under President Obama. The company has also made an effort to hire former startup founders to its team, including Eric Olson, the co-founder of Tech Cocktail, and Liz Vellojin, the founder and executive director of Argyle Partners.
