The Chicago CIO Leadership Association (ChicagoCIO) has announced the finalists for its 2017 Chicago CIO of the Year Awards.
The awards recognize information technology leaders who have demonstrated excellence in innovation, leadership, business value creation, and community involvement.
Five finalists have been chosen in five business categories: Corporate, Enterprise, Nonprofit/Public Sector, Global, and Super Global.
The winners will be revealed March 31 at the Chicago CIO of the Year Awards breakfast at the Fairmont Hotel Millennium Park.
CORPORATE:
Bill Berry, vice president of information technology, Cole-Palmer Instrument Company
Bill has global responsibility for all IT for Cole-Parmer Instrument Company, including implementation and support of infrastructure and applications for manufacturing and distribution business units totaling $350 in revenue. With multiple acquisitions, he supports a dozen facilities going through ERP consolidations and brand transitions.
Tom Coleman, chief information and process officer, Sloan Global Holdings, LLC
Tom currently holds the position of Chief Information and Process Officer at Sloan Global Holdings in Franklin Park, IL, where he is responsible for the Information Technology Group and Sloan’s Business Process Transformation initiative. He is also Sloan’s process owner for the corporate strategic planning process.
Doug King, CIO, Landauer
As Landauer CIO, Doug has responsibility for developing the enterprise technology vision, IT strategy and architecture for all software applications and infrastructure. He partners with Landauer’s Marketing and Innovation team and oversees the design and development of information-based products and services, as well as large-scale user experience software applications that result in greater efficiency and economies of scale for Landauer’s operations and its customers.
Andrew McIntyre, vice president, technology, Chicago Cubs
Andrew joined the Cubs in June of 2011 as director of information technology, and was promoted to his current role in September of 2015. He is responsible for setting the strategic direction for the Cubs’ enterprise business applications and the technology infrastructure of Wrigley Field, Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona and the Dominican Republic Training Academy.

Neeru Arora, CIO, Aon Service Corporation
Neeru Arora is the CIO for Aon Service Corporation and Aon’s Chief Knowledge Officer. She leads an organization of 250 colleagues, focused on enabling growth, operational efficiency and stability. She is responsible for a vast number of portfolios, including sales and marketing, financial management, human resource management, procurement, legal, audit, compliance and treasury.
Steve Betts, CIO, Health Care Service Corporation
As Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), Steve is responsible for advancing HCSC’s information technology strategy to deliver on business goals and strategic imperatives across the Group, Government Programs and Retail lines of business.
Dean Haacker, CTO, The PrivateBank
Dean is currently CTO for The PrivateBank and Trust Company, a Chicago-based commercial banking organization serving clients from coast to coast. He leads the development of new products, processes and standards to support corporate strategies; manages the daily performance of all technology services and related service providers; and enables growth through new technology services and operations excellence.
Diane Randolph, CIO, ULTA Beauty
Diane Randolph joined ULTA Beauty as the Chief Information Officer for Information Systems in October 2014. She is responsible for advancing the strategic goals through technology-solutions delivery and operations support for functions including marketing, merchandising, stores, distribution centers, e-commerce, inventory management, desktop and data centers.
Yvonne Scott, CIO, Crowe Horwath, LLP
S. Yvonne Scott is the Chief Information Officer of Crowe Horwath, LLP. She joined Crowe in 2008 and is responsible for directing all aspects of the firm’s information systems related activities, as well as the firm’s Project Management Office. She is a member of the firm’s management team and is a key contributor the firm’s transformation, growth, innovation, and women’s initiatives.

Partha Biswas, group president, The Middleby Corporation
Partha Biswas is the current group president at The Middleby Corporation, a publicly traded global manufacturing company in the food service and food processing equipment industry. As a member of the Middleby executive management team, Partha is responsible for leading global supply chain and information technology functions for all Middleby divisions.
Monica Caldas, CIO, Global Services and Digital Solutions, GE Transportation
Monica Caldas is the chief information officer for the Global Services and Digital Solutions businesses within GE Transportation based in Chicago. In this role, Monica is responsible for transforming the culture and role of IT to deliver business model innovation by creating the platform’s digital strategy.
John Higginson, CTO, Enova
John joined Enova as Chief Technology Officer in 2014. Previously, he served as CTO of Wheels, Inc., where he managed a team of 150 technology professionals and led the development of Wheels’ comprehensive suite of Web applications. He has also worked at FTD Companies Inc. and Applied Systems Inc.
Mohit Kapoor, chief information and technology officer, TransUnion
Mohit Kapoor joined TransUnion in 2011 as Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Technology Officer. He is responsible for all aspects of the company’s technology including strategy, security, applications, operations, infrastructure and delivery of solutions that support TransUnion’s global information systems.
Vince Marin, CIO, Sidley Austin
Vince Marin is the CIO at Sidley Austin, where he provides global leadership for all technology services, records management and docketing, litigation and practice support, and knowledge management. Vince is in his fourth year at Sidley and has a distinguished professional services background, including three years as CIO of Huron Consulting Group.
NONPROFIT
Hardik Bhatt, CIO, State of Illinois
Hardik is the Secretary of Department of Innovation and Technology and the State CIO, overseeing the digital transformation of Illinois with a team of 2,500 employees and consultants with over $1B of budget, including a fiber services P&L with 6,000 customers. Before joining Illinois, Hardik was Senior Director with Cisco and lead Global business development of Internet of Everything for public sector.
Kevin Boyd, CIO, University of Chicago Booth School of Business
Kevin B. Boyd is the Chief Information Officer at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He has responsibility for the information technology at Chicago Booth’s campuses in Chicago, London and Hong Kong, and he manages a staff of 50 in operations, application development, project management, and service management.
Lisa Dykstra, CIO, Anne & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital
In June 2015, Lisa Dykstra became the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital. In this role, she provides technology leadership and vision in the development and implementation of the healthcare information technology program in order to advance the enterprise mission.
Simona Rollinson, CIO, Cook County
Simona Rollinson joined Cook County Government as the Chief Information Officer in April 2014. She is the head of the Bureau of Technology, where she oversees a team of more than 130 technologists and a capital budget of over $60 million annually for investment in the County's IT infrastructure.
Bob Wiley, CIO, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago-Detroit Branch
Bob Wiley is senior vice president, chief information officer and the manager of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's Detroit Branch and has functional responsibility for district operations. His responsibilities include information technology, cash, fiscal, law enforcement unit (LEU), building operations and administrative services.

Nancy Berce, vice president, Business and Technology Services, Abbott Labs
Ms. Berce is Abbott’s Vice President and Corporate Officer, Business and Technology Services where she is responsible for Abbott’s Information Technology and Global Business Services Operations. Her organization focuses on business growth through technology and analytics, and it drives efficiency through process standardization and shared business operations across Abbott’s business units.
Deb Hall Lefevre, vice president, Global Enterprise Solutions, McDonald's
Deb Hall Lefevre is the currently the Corporate Vice President of Global Enterprise Solutions, where she manages McDonald’s global business technology portfolio. Deb is responsible for driving global business transformation and subsequent technology strategy & execution as part of McDonald’s Turnaround Agenda.
Linda Jojo, CIO, United Airlines
Since 2014, Linda has served as Executive Vice President and CIO of United Airlines. Her mandate is to deliver a strategy that improves and differentiates United’s operations and customer experience through the innovative use of technologies including mobility and data analytics, all while minding increasing cyber security requirements.
Greg Meyers, CIO, Motorola Solutions
Greg Meyers is corporate vice president and chief information officer for Motorola Solutions. He is responsible for leading the company’s IT organization, including customer-facing digital systems, internal technology and information security. Before joining Motorola Solutions in 2014, Greg led business IT for Biogen.
Adam Stanley, CIO, Cushman & Wakefield
Adam Stanley provides strategic and operational direction for Cushman & Wakefield’s client facing and colleague technology systems and infrastructure across all global business lines. Under Adam’s leadership, Cushman & Wakefield was named to the CIO100 for 2016 and 2015 by CIO Magazine.
