ContextMedia Rebrands to Outcome Health

ContextMedia, the bootstrapped darling of Chicago's tech community, is now Outcome Health.

The company officially announced the name change Tuesday morning. The new name "represents the company’s aspiration to activate the best health outcome possible for every person in the world," the company said in a news release.

Launched in 2006 by Rishi Shah and Shradha Agarwal, ContextMedia has become one of the fastest-growing and most recognizable companies in Chicago tech. Last year ContextMedia landed at No. 504 on the Inc 5000 list with 751% growth over the past three years.

The company provides doctors' offices with digital health information to help patients manage their conditions, and it launched with a Waiting Room TV product to give people healthcare-related content while they waited to see the doctor. In 2013 it expanded into the exam room with an interactive tablet that doctors and patients use to further illustrate a patient's condition and provide more information at the point of care. ContextMedia also recently made the move to design and build its own custom hardware in-house.

The name change to Outcome Health comes two months after it acquired competitor AccentHealth, a New York City and Tampa, FL-based maker of interactive tablets for the exam room. With the acquisition, ContextMedia said it now reaches 55,000 healthcare locations, making it the "largest healthcare decision platform at the point of care" in the US. ContextMedia expects to have a presence in 70% of all practices in the US by 2020.
