The State of Innovation (SOI) is our annual meetup series focused on the people, businesses, trends, and topics that are shaping the city's tech community and economy. Up next is Food Inno on 2/21, Presented by Foodworks Venture Funds
Last September, we hosted a meetup focused on startups and early-stage businesses operating at every level of the food supply chain, from a new facility focused on urban agriculture to a venture firm that targets farming technology. The event was keynoted by a panel featuring several local food entrepreneurs, such as Simple Mills' Katlin Smith to Limitless' Matt Matros. Sandwiching the programming was a marketplace with a handful of new, innovative food products, including a levitating tumbler and a patent-pending wine filter. The lineup was AMAZING and, after networking with the speakers and attendees, one thing was clear - when it comes to the Chicago food startup community, we had only just scratched the surface.
Chicago, with its food legacy, pillar CPG corporations, and emerging tech ecosystem, is home to hundreds of startups and entrepreneurs that are navigating the space. It's impossible to do the city's food innovation ecosystem justice with just one meetup.
That's why we're bringing back Food Inno on Tuesday, February 21st, complete with a WHOLE NEW batch of programming and conversations. The presenting companies and speakers will be different, but the general theme will be similar - an exploration of the local people and companies innovating within and around food.
We'll be announcing speakers and programming soon. But because this was such a popular meetup last time, we wanted to give you plenty of time to save the date.
