Tuesday

Metis Chicago is hosting an intro to data science course from Drew Fustin, a Metis instructor and the lead data scientist at SpotHero. The event is an info session to the 6-week course, which begins Jan 24. More info here.

Wednesday

1871 is hosting a meetup on cyber intelligence analysis and Russian election hacking. The event will feature a talk from Patrik Maldre, managing partner at Retel Partners, about the emerging field of cyber intelligence and the burden of proof in the age of digital operations. More info here.

eSpark Learning and Dev Bootcamp are hosting an EdTech Chicago meetup that will feature former teachers who now work in EdTech. They'll talk about their adventure in teaching, and their journeys into EdTech. More info here.

There's a South Side Hackerspace meeting Wednesday at 1048 W 37th St. The event serves as an open house, and will include a brief meeting about hackerspace business and is a time to meet and chat with members and non-members. More info here.

Thursday

1871 is hosting a conversation with Shark Tank judge Daymond John Thursday in its auditorium. John will join 1871 CEO Howard Tullman for a fireside chat about his entrepreneurial journey. More info here.

Chetan Ghai, the chief product officer at Narrative Science, is speaking at the Gleacher Center Thursday at an event called Storytelling From Data at Scale. He'll explore the cross-industry challenge of reporting insights from data at scale, emerging technologies that are of assistance and real-life applications. More info here.

Friday

Trading Technologies is hosting its Algo Showcase on Friday, which brings together college students with an interest in trading and some of Chicago’s top trading firms in a “Shark Tank”-style environment. Located at 222 S. Riverside Plaza, the event will feature students from Illinois Institute of Technology, Indiana, Wisconsin, Case Western and Johns Hopkins as they represent their schools and compete against one another. Saturday

Blue1647 is hosting an event Saturday called 10 Steps on How to Take Your Idea to Market. Speaking at the event will be Chicago Inventors Organization President Calvin Flowers and Lawrence Glenn, CIO Member Inventor, Entrepreneur and President of GPK Associates. More info here.
