According to a recent CareerBuilder survey, seven in ten key IT job postings go unfilled annually. So, to help fill the pipeline of national tech talent in order to address this problem, Downers Grove-based CompTIA, a trade association for the technology industry, announced that it will launch its first IT professional organization.
The new organization's mission, according to CompTIA, will be to help facilitate the success of IT professionals throughout their careers, deploying a "resume-to-retirement” approach that will onboard individuals into the industry, as well as enable them to grow within their field. The organization will offer a "multifaceted suite of member benefits," including training, workforce development and the issuing of IT certifications.
To accelerate the launch of the organization, CompTIA revealed Monday that it has acquired the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP), a 65-year-old organization committed to advancing the IT profession through professional development, support of IT education, and national IT policies. Explained CompTIA CEO Todd Thibodeaux in a release, "AITP, with its deep historical roots and established networks, will help us build a solid foundation for success for our new professional organization."
CompTIA's new IT organization is set to launch this spring and will provide skills training, career advancement, and networking opportunities.
Added Thibodeaux in a statement, "This new CompTIA organization is only the latest, and next logical, step on our ongoing journey of helping create a skilled and proficient workforce."
