Achy Back? This Startup Built a Heated Foam Roller

As a part-time pickup basketball player and a full-time person with bad posture, I swear by my foam roller. It's great for stretching out muscles before a run or after a bad night's sleep.

But a startup out of Lake Zurich, IL may have just changed the foam roller game with a heated roller that helps alleviate muscle pain.

Moji just launched the Moji Heat Roller on Kickstarter, hoping to raise $15,000 for its dual therapy heated roller. It combines traditional foam rolling with heat therapy to target problem areas and help with recovery and pain relief. With 23 days left in the campaign the product has raised more than $11,000.

Foam rolling has been used to help athletes stretch and elongate their muscles in order to ease muscle tightness and soreness. By adding heat, Moji says, it reduces muscle stiffness, increases circulation and raises tissue temperature. The goal is to provide a better recovery solution for athletes and weekend warriors. Moji also offers a range of other massage tools to target specific muscles, like in your hamstrings and feet.

"Together you get the most effective warm up, recovery, and pain relief solution for muscle health," the company's Kickstarter says.

The Moji Heat Roller twists apart into two pieces and fits in the microwave, which you then heat for 1 minute.

The roller costs $42 for early Kickstarter backers, and the product expects to ship in May 2017.
