kCura, a legal tech company based in Chicago, is really excited the Chicago Cubs are in the World Series. So excited, in fact, they're celebrating by creating 108 new jobs (and hiring for these positions) by the beginning of the Cubs' next season in April.
"Basically, we say one job for each of 108 years of unfulfilled yearning," said Mariya Barnes, a member of the public relations team at kCura.
The hiring announcement isn't totally motivated by the Cubs' World Series run, but this growth will be ahead of their usual hiring projections and timing, Barnes said. kCura was already planning to hire 100 people within the next year, but now will hire 108 in the next six months. For comparison, this year kCura brought on 100 new employees. The tech company currently has 610 employees, with 90 percent of team members in Chicago.
The positions will mostly be in engineering and the majority of jobs will be located in Chicago.
"We will gear up and show kCurians and new hires what it means to be part of a company with true Chicago values - hard work, perseverance, humility and more than a little hunger for success," she said.
For 108 years, #Cubs fans have yearned for glory. We'll honor their commitment by hiring 108 team members by Opening Day. Game on! #FlyTheW pic.twitter.com/iccLuc03Y1
