Inside Illinois' Minority Entrepreneurship Program: A Conversation with Jimmy Odom

Jimmy_Odom

Last month, Governor Bruce Rauner announced that the State of Illinois is launching a new program that aims to provide more resources to minority entrepreneurs through a business boot camp, networking and mentoring opportunities.

The program, called Advancing the Development of Minority Entrepreneurship (ADME), wants to help build a stronger minority entrepreneurship ecosystem in Illinois. Applications are available at www.admeillinois.org and will close October 23.

The program is being led by Jimmy Odom, the founder of Chicago startup WeDeliver and a well-known figure in Chicago's startup community. Odom is now the Senior Policy Adviser for the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

In this conversation, which is part of the Chicago Inno Show podcast, Odom talks about why the program is needed, what he hopes it will achieve, and how we can increase minority entrepreneurship in the state.
