The most popular apps in the US are dominated by the usual suspects. Facebook, Facebook Messenger, YouTube and Google all rank among the most used apps in the country, according to a newly released report from comScore. In fact, every app in the 2016 report was also named in the same report in 2015, with one exception: Groupon.

Chicago-based Groupon was the only new face on the 2016 list, coming in at No. 22 with more than 30 million unique visitors. It ranked just behind Netflix and Spotify, and ahead of Walmart, eBay and Yahoo Mail. It replaced Google+, the only app to not make the 2016 list from last year.

Groupon's year-over-year unique visitor growth was up 40%, according to comScore, ranking it one of the fastest growing apps behind only Google Drive (68%), Amazon Mobile (55%) and Snapchat (52%).

"Groupon is becoming a daily habit for millions of people around the world who are looking for things to do, eat, see and buy in their neighborhoods,” Zach Smith, director of mobile product at Groupon, said in a statement. “We're continually improving our mobile app to help users quickly find and save on the things they need every day."

Groupon says more than 133 million people across the world have downloaded its apps, and mobile accounts for 60% of the company's business. Groupon's addition to the top 25 apps list coincides with the launch of the company's first national advertising campaign since the 2011 Super Bowl. It also comes as Groupon has made a concerted effort to focus on its US business and pull out of lesser performing countries.
