Chicago tech unicorn SMS Assist announced that it has promoted Marc Shiffman to CEO. Shiffman was previously the company's president and CFO, and he was one of SMS Assist's earliest hires. He replaces Taylor Rhodes, who is leaving the company to pursue a new opportunity. SMS Assist also announced it hired Kevin McDunn as chief product officer. McDunn previously worked at Lenovo, Google and Motorola, and was most recently chief product officer at UI LABS.
Chicago sales and marketing startup ActiveCampaign announced it has hired Cory Snyder as its director of channel sales. Snyder comes to ActiveCampaign from Keap (formerly Infusionsoft).
Chicago VC firm Origin Ventures announced Alex Meyer has joined as a partner. He joins Origin from SAP, where he served as VP for Global Business Development. He's also the founder and chairman of the Harvard Business School Alumni Angels and Entrepreneurship Council of Chicago.
On-demand parking app SpotHero announced three executive hires: Chris Stevens (previously the GM of getaways at Groupon) was named CMO, Paolo Lorenzoni (previously a GM at Uber Eats) was named VP of Verticals, and Rob Reilly (previously a VP at Porch) was named VP of customer experience.
Chicago-based online insurance brokerage Insureon has hired Dan Kazan as its next CEO. He replaces Ted Devine, who will continue to work as co-chairman. Kazan was the former CEO of Rewards Network. Insureon has raised $31 million to date.
Chicago startup Cameo, a marketplace where fans can purchase video shout-out messages from celebrities, has hired Marina Dedes Gallager to lead its Australia team. She previously founded MomSights, which was bought by Batterii. She was also a former VC at Lightbank.
