The annual Inc. 5000 list is out, and many Chicago companies made this year's prestigious ranking of fastest-growing private companies.

Chicago meal kit delivery startup Home Chef was Chicago's highest-ranking business, reporting the third highest three-year revenue growth of all businesses measured. It did $255 million in revenue last year, a more than 60,000 percent growth from 2014. Home Chef was acquired this year by Kroger in a deal that could be worth up to $700 million.

Chicago's G2 Crowd, a platform for business software reviews, was the city's fastest-growing software company on the list and the 20th fastest-growing software company overall. G2 Crowd raised a $30 million round last year from Accel and LinkedIn, and CEO Godard Abel has publicly stated that he'd like to eventually take the company public.

This year Chicago moved up to sole possession of third place in terms of cities with the most Inc. 5000 companies. It was tied for third last year with Atlanta, which slipped to fourth. The Inc. 5000 rankings are measured by percent revenue growth from 2014 to 2017.

Other notable Chicago tech companies on the list include Factor 75 (264), Reverb (382) and Shiftgig (487).
