2020 has tested Chicago's startup community like never before, as Covid-19 brought with it hurdles and curveballs no business could have expected. But innovators know a thing or two about improvising, and despite the challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic, many of Chicago's startups are growing and finding ways to thrive.

You'll find numerous stories of resiliency on our Inno on Fire list, a collection of people and companies in Chicago tech that are finding success despite the adversity presented by the pandemic. And on Nov. 5, we'll hear from a few of those startup founders at our Inno on Fire event.

Inno on Fire (previously called 50 on Fire), is our annual event that recognizes and celebrates the people and companies in Chicago tech that have had a banner year. If you've been to our Fire event in the past, you know it brings hundreds of people in Chicago's tech community together for drinks, bites, networking and a fun video announcing all the honorees and the "Blazer" winners in each category.

As you can imagine, this year's event will look a little different. At our virtual Inno on Fire, we'll dive deep into conversations with some of Chicago's top tech entrepreneurs about how they've navigated the coronavirus pandemic, and have steered their companies toward growth and sustainability. We'll begin with a fireside chat with Cameo CEO Steven Galanis, and follow with a panel that includes the founders of M1 Finance, Chowbus, 4Degrees and The Mom Project. We'll have some audience Q&A, virtual networking and we'll reveal this year's Blazer winners.

Here's the agenda:

  • 3:00: Welcome
  • 3:05: Fireside Chat (Steven Galanis, founder and CEO of Cameo)
  • 3:20: Fire Panel (Allison Robinson, founder and CEO of The Mom Project; Linxin Wen, co-founder and CEO of Chowbus; Brian Barnes, founder and CEO of M1 Finance; Ablorde Ashigbi, co-founder and CEO of 4Degrees)
  • 3:50: Audience Q&A
  • 4:00: The Blazer reveal (category winners)

We hope to one day resume our in-person networking events and gather together for future Fire events in-person eventually. But this year, we hope you join us virtually as we hear from some of Chicago's successful startup leaders about what they've learned, the challenges they've faced, and their road ahead.

Register for the free event here. We'll see you there!
