A Chicago startup that helps restaurants like McDonald's and Jimmy John's manage repairs and maintenance has raised $15 million in new funding.

86 Repairs, which has created a subscription service that manages repairs for restaurant groups, said the Series A round was led by Silicon Valley VC firm Storm Ventures.

Other backers include Savory Fund, Lightbank, TDF Ventures, Gordon Food Service, Cleveland Avenue and MATH Venture Partners.

Founded in 2018 by Daniel Estrada and Joe Gallagher, 86 Repairs' platform helps restaurants troubleshoot issues, schedule repairs, and track how much they're spending on equipment maintenance. It gives restaurants access to on-demand repair support, along with programs for preventative maintenance.

It will coordinate all aspects of the repair process, dispatching someone from its service network or from the restaurant's preferred vendor list, who can repair items like ovens, HVAC systems and walk-in freezers.

The fresh funding comes after the startup raised $5.3 million last year. 86 Repairs has now raised $24 million to date.

The startup works with more than 2,000 restaurants in the U.S. and Canada, working with both upscale dining and fast-food businesses. Its customers include Boka Restaurant Group and Castellucci Hospitality Group, along with McDonald's, Jimmy John's, Sonic and Taco Bell. 86 Repairs said its revenue has increased nearly 3X year-over-year.

86 Repairs isn't the only Chicago startup helping restaurants keep their systems running. Science on Call gives restaurants a 24/7 tech support platform that helps troubleshoot glitches and other technology problems. It raised $1.6 million earlier this year.
