NBA superstar Kevin Durant is betting on a Chicago sports gambling startup.

Betsperts, a sports betting research tool that helps gamblers follow the picks of successful bettors, said Tuesday that Durant and fellow NBA All-Star Chris Paul have joined the company's $6 million Series A round it raised earlier this year.

Durant has been one of the NBA's most active startup investors through his company Thirty Five Ventures, a New York-based VC fund that's invested in dozens of startups like Coinbase, Robinhood and Dapper Labs, a blockchain company that created digital trading card company NBA Top Shot.

It's been a busy year for Betsperts, which in May acquired the Fantasy Life App, a tool created by ESPN personality Matthew Berry that delivers breaking news push notifications to fantasy players.

In August, Betsperts announced plans to acquire 4for4.com, a content, data and rankings tool for fantasy football. That acquisition officially closed on Tuesday.

Those deals expand the startup's focus beyond gambling and into fantasy sports, with CEO Reid Rooney telling Chicago Inno earlier this year that the company plans to invest heavily in both areas.

Founded in 2019, Betsperts has created a social media platform for sports bettors that allows gamblers to find and follow experts across different sports. The Betsperts app tracks and ranks gamblers based on their betting history, helping users know who to follow if they want advice on their next bet.

Betsperts has raised around $9 million to date.
