Jammber, a music-tech startup that creates workflow tools to help artists receive proper credit and payment for their work, has raised a new round of funding from AOL co-founder Steve Case's VC firm Revolution and other investors.

Jammber, founded in 2013 and co-headquartered in Chicago and Nashville, announced it has raised $2.2 million with backing from Revolution's Rise of the Rest seed fund and other unnamed investors. Jammber has now raised $5.5 million in funding to date.

Jammber has created an ownership and royalty processing platform for the music industry, which allows music creators to identify everyone responsible for creating a track so they can be properly compensated. Its products include the Splits app, which allows artists to add songwriter credits in real-time so they can be paid later; Muse, an app that lets songwriters share lyrics with producers and organize audio tracks; and nStudio, a studio-management platform that allows music creators to automatically capture metadata associated with studio sessions and keep track of all the songs they produce.

Jammber has a deal with Nielsen Music to provide the music industry giant with data, and its other investors include former chairman of Sony Music Nashville Joe Galante and Vector Management founder Ken Levitan.

Jammber says it has more than 600 customers using its software to create projects, and it's been used during sessions from Paul McCartney, U2 and One Republic.

"We are empowering artists and songwriters with the tools to simplify the metadata collection process, which leads to faster and more exact royalty payments,” Jammber founder and CEO Marcus Cobb said in a statement. “Companies like Apple, Spotify and YouTube ultimately benefit from the tools as well. Right now, these companies are experiencing extraordinary operating costs trying to figure out who to pay. Jammber’s tools lower the overhead across the industry and improve royalty payment accuracy.”
