Healthcare SaaS provider ExplORer Surgical has raised a new round of funding to help it expand.

The startup announced Thursday that it closed a $5 million financing round led by Mill Valley, Calif.-based Aphelion Capital, the venture firm that also led ExplORer Surgical’s $3 million Series A round in 2017.

The startup has now raised $9 million in total funding, according to Crunchbase.

ExplORer Surgical, founded in 2015 by CEO Jennifer Fried and Alex Langerman, makes a cloud-based “digital playbook” for hospitals and device companies, which allows them to guide, track and analyze activity in the operating room.

Each user can see their own content on any connected device, which also collects important data live during procedures, according to the company. The startup’s software is currently being used in a research study at Indiana University.

“In addition to further commercializing within hospitals, we are growing our use cases among medical device customers," Fried said in a statement. "We are fortunate to be supported by a strong, experienced investor base with confidence in our vision."
