Chicago startup The Minte, which aims to bring hotel-style cleanings to apartment buildings, has raised a seed round of funding to expand.

The Minte announced Monday that it has raised $2.25 million in a round led by Dundee Venture Capital, with participation from MATH Venture Partners, Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, Firebrand Ventures and Blue Notes Ventures. The startup has now raised $4.7 million to date.

Founded in 2017, The Minte puts physical buttons on the walls of apartment units, allowing residents to push whenever they need a cleaning. The startup offers hotel-style cleanings, which include tidying up, bathroom cleanings, vacuuming and kitchen counter wipe downs, starting at $30 for a 1-bedroom apartment. It also can provide deep cleanings for $90, and residents can set up reoccurring cleanings at a discount.

“As technology becomes pervasive across industries impacting everyday consumer activity, The Minte has recognized a significant market opportunity for affordable hotel-style housekeeping that it can capture beginning in metropolitan cities across the United States,” said J.D. Vance, managing partner of Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, in a statement. “The Minte is another example of a great consumer technology company scaling outside of Silicon Valley and benefiting from its location between the coasts.”

The Minte says it will use the new financing to improve its technology, develop smart home integrations and mobile apps. It also plans to use the money to expand into new markets, with a goal of being in more than 30,000 units by the end of this year.

The Minte currently offers its services in 25,000 units across Chicago and Washington, D.C., and is adding 12 new properties each month.

“The Minte is about affordably maintaining the cleanliness of your home, which frees up time and relieves stress,” said The Minte CEO Kathleen Wilson in a statement. “Dundee and other venture partners have been incredibly supportive. Their guidance will be invaluable as we rapidly, sustainably scale and expand our services to residences around America.”
