On-Demand Dry Cleaning Service DRYV Raises $450K, Launches Android App

Chicago-based DRYV, a website and mobile app that allows users to schedule their dry cleaning to be picked up and dropped off, announced it has raised a roughly $450,000 round from local angel investors.

Launched in the App Store in December 2013, DRYV will pick up your laundry within an hour of using its mobile app or website, and it will delivery it to your house the next day at a time of your choosing. The company recently released an Android app and enhanced its web platform, according to a news release.

“What our customers love most about DRYV is our flexibility and quality," co-founder Chris Elipas said in the release. "We provide a quality cleaning service, but deliver it to your door next day… and we’re open late seven days a week.”

Users sign up for the service by linking their credit cards to their account. Dry cleaning costs anywhere from $4 for a shirt to $30 for a comforter, and laundry is $17.50 for the first 10 pounds. A text message is sent when it's ready and a receipt is sent to the user's inbox. Delivery costs are built into the pricing and there are no tips. The "DRYVers" who pick up the clothing are also equipped to answer questions about cleaning specific items, so users can select the right service for each item.

“The average person doesn’t have intimate knowledge of how their garments should be cared for, and that’s perfectly OK,” says co-founder Dan Parsons. “We created DRYV to make sure clothes are cleaned properly and to our customers’ satisfaction.”

The company is also able to photo inventory each order to make sure everything is accounted for prior to processing. And DRYV is launching corporate offerings for companies that want to extend their service as an employee perk, the release said.
